Brian Mast is a Republican member of the U.S. House of Representatives who has represented Florida’s Treasure Coast since 2017. Following redistricting, he represents Florida’s 21st Congressional District, which includes much of St. Lucie, Martin, and northern Palm Beach counties—including Port St. Lucie, Fort Pierce, Stuart, and Jupiter.
Background
- Born: July 10, 1980, in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
- Military service: Served in the U.S. Army for over 12 years as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (bomb disposal) technician.
- In Afghanistan, he was severely injured by an improvised explosive device (IED), resulting in the loss of both legs. He received the Purple Heart, Bronze Star Medal, and other military decorations.
- After recovering, he worked in national security roles with the Department of Homeland Security and other federal agencies before being elected to Congress. He also earned a degree through Harvard Extension School.

Brian Mast is serving his fifth term in Congress and is currently the Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, one of the House’s most influential committees on international affairs and national security.
